PRODUCT NEWS

Upcoming Enhancements in Impress for EPM

One of the many advantages an Impress packaged integration application provides over a custom-built integration is its lower total cost of ownership. A key ingredient to this lower TCO recipe is the reduced costs to maintain and improve the integration.

At Impress, our product teams are committed to continuously enhancing our products, and taking care of all the intricacies (and idiosyncrasies) involved with integrating a new releases of SAP, Microsoft, or Primavera. We also ensure that our integration solutions allow you to take advantage of important advancements in industry standards.

In March of 2006, we introduced Impress for EPM 3.0, delivering numerous scalability and performance improvements. On the heels of this release, we are well on our way to delivering the next major Impress for EPM release. It is scheduled for availability later this year and will introduce improvements in a number of areas, including:

  • A migration path from Project I.App 2.x to Impress for EPM 3.x
  • Breakthrough performance improvements in synchronization throughput
  • Out-of-the box functionality for more effective capital project management
  • Improved usability including better error handling to speed implementations
  • Support for Microsoft’s next major EPM release (included with Office 2007 release)
  • Support for SAP’s MySAP ERP 2005
  • Expanded support for web services

TIPS & TRICKS

Empower Yourself with Information - Search the Error Reference Manual

The newly available Error Reference Manual can help you understand the cause and potential solution to an error message that you may receive when using an Impress product. For example, if you received an error message of “54 Text: Object is already locked by another user”, you could look up that error and find the following information:

54 Text: Object is already locked by another user
Error level: 1
Symbolic name: OBJECT_IS_LOCKED
Module: GEN
Cause: Object is already locked by another user Solution: Wait for the object to be released. If no other users use the system, make sure there are no open transactions possibly preventing the lock from being released.

To search the online manual, simply log into the Customer Support Website using your ID and password and navigate to the middle of the home page. Click on the "Error Reference Manual" link and match your error code number to the number range appearing in the left window. Clicking on the correct number range will provide you with information on all available error messages that fall within that category.

If you require further assistance beyond the manual, we encourage you to search the Knowledge Database or log a case directly from the Customer Support homepage.

If you do not have a support ID and password, you may request one through the Customer Support Website.
